When is my tax return due for 2026?

 SARS has officially published the deadlines for the 2026 year of assessment in Government Gazette No. 54598 (Notice 7422, 30 April 2026). What you need to know.

🗓 Key Deadlines

  • Non‑provisional (employee) taxpayers:
    Returns must be submitted on or before 23 October 2026.
  • Provisional taxpayers:
    Deadline extended to 22 January 2027.
  • Trusts:
    Also due on or before 22 January 2027.
  • Companies and certain organisations:
    Within 12 months of the end of their financial year.

🔜 Filing season opening

SARS has confirmed the due dates, but the opening dates for filing season will be announced closer to July 2026. Keep an eye on SARS communications for the official start date.
