Return of Earnings Submissions Open Soon—Stay Compliant with openHR!
The 2025 Return of Earnings (ROE) submission window officially opens on 11 April 2025 via the Department of Labour’s online portal: CFOnline. As businesses prepare to file their annual returns, openHR has you covered with our Return of Earnings report, readily available under the Reports menu to streamline compliance.
While filing the Return of Earnings and paying the subsequent assessment might seem like just another business expense, it's actually a vital insurance policy. This annual submission ensures that employers are protected against unexpected medical costs when an employee suffers an injury or work-related illness. More importantly, it serves as a financial safeguard, shielding businesses from potential civil claims that could impact income and operations.
With openHR’s user-friendly reporting, businesses can file their returns quickly and accurately, ensuring compliance while securing valuable protection for both employer and employee. Get ahead of your submission—openHR makes the process effortless! Our report offers you the option to exclude specific transactions and to list directors separately.

More openHR Updates in less than a week
At openHR, we're constantly evolving to bring you smoother payroll management, improved reporting, and enhanced security. In this latest update, we've refined key aspects of the system to ensure efficiency and accuracy across your payroll operations.
Streamlined Payslip Verification
We now require users to enter an employment start date to open payslip verification. One additional layer of security to our already highly encrypted payslip verification QR codes.
UIF Reporting Enhancement
The UIF report has been simplified so that only one new period can be requested for submission. This small but impactful tweak helps ensure clear and concise reporting.
Refined Footer Customisation
The "Generated by openHR" footer has undergone improvements. It now has a lighter colour, making overlapping text more legible. Plus, for premium users, we've removed the footer altogether for a cleaner, professional-looking document.
Improved Communication Settings
We’ve enhanced the communication switch, providing a detailed description when toggled, a better layout, and more options for seamless interaction between payroll administrators and employees.
Payslip Transaction Adjustments
If a payslip changes financial years, openHR will now reset directive numbers automatically in the payslip transaction, ensuring compliance with tax regulations.
Tax Certificate Corrections
We've resolved discrepancies related to the tax certificate period and employment end dates, ensuring accurate reporting for both employees and tax authorities.
Enhanced Security Measures
Security remains a top priority. Our latest updates include improved access controls and advanced security protocols to protect sensitive payroll data.
We’re committed to delivering intuitive, compliant, and secure payroll solutions for businesses of all sizes. These latest updates ensure a smoother, more reliable experience for HR professionals managing payroll and compliance with ease.
Stay tuned for more improvements, and as always, we welcome your feedback!
