The Road Ahead

23 Feb 2024
We are adding more features. With most payroll features moving out of beta testing and with all the new users we've added it is only best we move towards our HR features and expand them further. Yes, there are still some payroll features we are working on like payment batch exports, but these will come at a later stage. We are hard at work adding permit management which will also bring file uploads and storage to openHR. Due to it being part of our free offering as well, file sizes will be limited, but it will offer great features like reminders for both the employee and employer where email addresses are on file.

This will also bring another challenge for us; the employee management screen will become too crowded. Our current way forward will be to split the profile into 3 parts:

Payroll
Payslips
Pay Rates
Advances/Loans
Directives
IRP5's
(More features under wraps and coming soon)

HR
Expenses
Leave
(Tons of features under wraps and coming soon)

Compliance
Permits
Transgressions
(You will love the other features we have planned)

As you can see, we already have too many features for just one screen and we are planning about 2 more payroll features, 4 more HR features, 2 more compliance features and 2 more general features. One of those features are so big we are only planning it for 2028/2029. That's 10 major new features on top of our current 9 major features listed above which we released this past financial year.

We hope to make openHR a haven for both payroll and HR administrators alike - which for small businesses are the same person that does the accounting and then they also want them to manage health and safety. Hint-hint Easter Egg.

We also hope to be the first payroll and HR software company in the world that offers AI assisted features to you before the end of this year. And no, not a simple chat bot, but a tool that will add true value to your management of your employees and your business.

So, that is enough blog posts for a while! What a busy month!
